So, I read an article on the Kansas City news’s website about a beating and all the two women that were responsible, got was probation. At Lion’s Park in Bonner Springs, a boy was making lewd advances towards a 14 year old girl who then, slapped him. The girl said he slapped her back and left. She and some of her friends continued to play at the park. Well, later on the boy’s aunt, Nakenia McGee, 34 and her niece, Katosha McGee, along with some other family members, came to the park. Apparently, the 17 year old, and possibly some others, beat, kicked and ripped this poor 14 year olds hair out. The aunt ordered the beating and said it was payback for her slapping the boy. This beating lasted for 15 to 30 minutes. It left the 14 year old with a concussion, a broken nose, and other injuries. The aunt was telling her that’s what she gets for slapping her nephew. The girl’s hospital bills were more than $11,400. She is also being treated for post-traumatic stress and depression. After this happened, Nakenia McGee and some of her family were still threatening the girl so the girl and her family had to move to a different state. The judge ordered the aunt to 2 years probation with a sentence of 13 months of jail time if she fails to cooperate. She also has to pay for the girl’s doctor bills. She pled no contest to endangering a child and aggravated battery. The niece, Katosha McGee pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and was sentenced to one year probation. The victim’s mother was very upset by the results. And so am I. With all that poor girl and her family has gone through, all they got was probation? I mean, really? It was awful that this happened, but what makes it worse, is the fact that the people that beat that girl were adults. That aunt really knows how to be a role model. You could kind of tell what kind of people were in that family when the boy slapped the girl back. I think when you talk to someone like that you shouldn’t be surprised when you get slapped. I couldn’t imagine if my boys were to ever do something like that when they are older. First of all, I’m trying to raise my boys to be gentlemanly and respectful. I would be one mad Mama if I ever heard of my boys hitting a girl. If a girl ever hit them, I would have to ask what they did to get them hit in the first place. Not that it would always make it the boy at fault for getting hit. It makes you wonder who raised these people. I thought we were supposed to teach our children right from wrong. Obviously if you don’t, they could end up like this. I think if I were this girl’s mother, I would see another lawyer and see what could be done to get those ladies sentences raised. I would keep going until something was done.
