So, there is a South Carolina State law maker that is trying to pass a law, or make it punishable by law, for inmates to have a Face Book, Twitter, or MySpace accounts. If anyone outside the prison walls helps the inmate make an account, that person could have to pay a five hundred dollar fine and be subject to a misdemeanor charge. Most of the people that make these accounts for the inmates are family members, or friends. Once they have made the account for the inmate, a cell phone is smuggled in to the inmate. So, the inmates are able to access their accounts from jail. Inmates caught with these phones will be fined five hundred dollars and have 30 days added to their sentence. Stalkers, gang members, batterers, and anyone in general that wants to terrorize, intimidate, or harass people, will use these kinds of applications to accomplish it. There are already laws in place about having cell phones in prison and threats of any kind. Why can’t we just focus on those laws and enforce them instead of trying to make another one. What would be the point of that? It would be a waste of money in my opinion. Why have laws if they are not even going to be enforced. That is one thing you see in a small town; laws not being enforced. They think that a warning one time will do the trick. But then they know better and are told different. I do not know if they are just lazy, or think they have other things to worry about, but if I have a problem, I want it taken care of, now, or as soon as humanly possible. Well, I really do not understand a lot of what goes on in prison. I do not believe they should get to watch TV, or do anything too entertaining. Them getting a degree of some sort, whether it is a GED, or college, are crazy to me. I do not want to pay for the education. Maybe it will make them better people, but that is not my problem. They could have applied for financial aid and grants. But, I guess it makes more sense to just have it all paid for while you have nothing to do anyway. I guess they are being educated for when they are released. Sorry, I am a little bitter about that whole subject. Bitter or I just may not know enough about it. I believe the only things they should get to do, is read. I mean, I have never been to a prison, but a library sounds good to me. Let them read all they want. But, they should not have any of the other luxuries I have a cousin that is a barber, and when he had to do time, he ended up cutting hair there. I don’t know if he got clippers or what. I would assume not scissors could be used. I have another cousin that kept getting time added to his sentence because he was tattooing guys in there. Oh well, guess he wasn’t to motivated to get out of there. Guess he should have spent some time getting a degree huh? Sounds like I have a crazy family. They are on different sides and I guess we all of a couple rocks in the wheel.
