Easter

Easter should be a day of celebrating the day Jesus was risen from the dead. Easter is always 3 days from Good Friday. Kids just see Good Friday as another day off school, they do not realize what is to come. I was like that in school too. Any way to get a day off from school was good for me. But, I do not feel that kids are taught what the meaning of Good Friday and Easter really means. Right now, (and even for my kids) Easter is just the biggest holiday for CANDY. I have started teaching my kids the meaning now, but they may not be old enough to really understand. By the time Easter is over, my kids will have five Easter egg hunts. These eggs are stuffed with cheap little toys that no one wants, tattoos, necklaces and bracelets, and all kinds of candy. I already have a big freezer bag full of stuff. One of the big things is, my kids are not that big on candy. I mean, they like candy, but after they eat some, they lose their interest. It either goes in the trash, or I give it to my Mom to take to work, or my husband takes it to work for other people to eat. I am lucky in a way that my kids do not get all crazy hyper by sugar, but there are a lot of kids that do. Most of these egg hunts are put on by family members, so it is not like we can skip them. I just think things are getting out of control. Easter is not all about candy. I also do not think that parents that do not believe in Easter, should not participate in all the festivities. Maybe I am just grumpy, but it is all out of whack in my eyes.

  1. I think it’s great that you are trying to teach your kids the true meaning of Good Friday and Easter. Kids are never too young to learn, I think as long as you teach them, they will remember because kids are like sponges, they absorb everything, and the good thing is they actually remember what they are taught. It is nice however, to make it fun for them as well.
