Summer Break

I almost feel guilty about being excited that summer break it in two weeks. I feel like I am too old to be taking time off; I need to stay focused and finish my bachelors degree as fast as I can. I know we are never too old to go back to school, but like they say, "I'm no spring chicken". I am in a hurry for some reason and I do not want to slow down. I will be finished by the time my youngest son starts preschool. I should be able to go back to work at that time. I am 59 credit hours away and I can not get there fast enough. If I do take the summers off, then I can be refreshed and ready to start a new semester when the time comes. I do not know how many of you are distant learning students, but that really raises the cost of tuition. I took one summer class last year and it cost half of what it costs to take a full 12 hours for a full semester. It just didn't make much sense to me. Taking the summers off will give me more time with my family. My son told me yesterday when we were outside playing that if I needed to go in and read or take a test I could. ha They understand, but it does take time away from my family. I am glad I am doing this while they are small. I won't have to miss school functions or any sports events later on. It is not like I had this huge summer full of events planned. I am just looking forward to giving my family my undivided attention.
That being said, my oldest son "graduates" from preschool on the 3rd of May. There are parents having receptions. I may be behind the times, but that sounds crazy to me. I mean, are they going to do this after kindergarten graduation also? Yes, we are all proud of our childrens accomplishments. I do not understand the receptions though. I do not have anything against the parent's that are. I think maybe we will do something special just the four of us, but not a cake and punch type of thing. haha Oh well, to each their own. I wonder if he will be upset when he finds out he is not getting a party like other kids are. Then again, he may not even know the difference either.

  1. I am so ready for summer as well. I am also taking a break from summer classes this year, but I will be working. I think a reception for a preschool graduation is a little excessive. I remember getting a few cards and a graduation Barbie, but I did not have a party. Good luck with the rest of your semester!
